Wimbledon Clubhouse: A writing group for children’s & YA authors
What is Wimbledon Clubhouse?
Wimbledon Clubhouse is a free in-person writing group for anyone who writes or wants to write for children and teenagers. Are you a brand new author? A seasoned pro? Thinking of dipping your toe into the world of kidlit but not sure where to start? Never written a word in your life? Join us! Get your free ticket here.
Whether you’re interested in picture books, early readers, chapter books, middle grade, YA or new adult, or you have absolutely no idea what any of those terms even mean, you’re so welcome at Wimbledon Clubhouse.
What happens at meetings?
- Chat about children’s books: Reading them, writing them, publishing them! Meetings are informal and, for now, you don’t have to RSVP to attend although it is super helpful so we know how many to expect and can book a suitable space.
- Learn about the industry: As we become established, I’d love to introduce guest speakers and presentations relating to writing for children.
- Discuss what we’ve read: Each month we’ll set an optional ‘book club’ book for members to read if they’d like to. This then acts as an icebreaker at meetings: members can share their thoughts on the book, which can then act as a springboard for other conversations about children’s publishing. This isn’t obligatory and there will be no pressure to read or discuss any of the books.
- Share our work: If you have work you’d like other members to critique or feed back on, you can send it to me ahead of time and I’ll distribute it to members to take a look at before the next meeting.
