Maybe you need better comp titles, perhaps you’ve forgotten to mention the story’s central conflict. maybe you haven’t ordered your query letter as well as you could. You’ve done the hard work of writing a book – now you need to put its best foot forward.

Cub Report

A brilliant way to get feedback on a specific element of your story. They focus only on your first 10,000 words so are great for letting you know if you’re heading in the right direction or, if you already have a completed manuscript, giving you the suggestions and guidance you need to tackle revisions. I will:
-
- Read your first 10,000 words
- Write a report around 5 A4 pages in Word
- Address only one plot element, chosen by you
- Invite you to a private Facebook group for middle grade and YA genre authors

Starter Critique

Around 10 A4 pages in Word
-
I’ll read your first 10,000 words (twice)
- Feedback on your story’s opening and tips on where to go next
-

-
Personalised recommended reading list

Invitation to a private Facebook group for middle grade and YA genre authors
Plot check-up
£200
Want some feedback on your story before you start writing? With a plot check-up you can run your plans past me to make sure you’re heading in the right direction. Send your outline, synopsis, pitch, chapter plan or back-of-a-napkin story ideas up to 10,000 words and I’ll send you back a short report on what I think is and isn’t working and what potential hurdles I see in your plan.
Maybe there’s no clear character development in your outline or the premise sounds more suited to adult fiction rather than YA. Save yourself time and stress by getting a professional opinion before you start!

The above structure is just one way we can work together on your manuscript. If you write more slowly or quickly and want to send me a different number of words per week or month (or every other month), that’s fine! Let me know what suits you and I’ll work out the best approach and payment schedule.
And if there’s something totally different you need help with, give me a shout. Coaching can cover any service that isn’t a simple manuscript edit or critique so the world’s our oyster. Maybe you want somebody to bounce ideas off. Perhaps you’re struggling with pacing or character goals and you need specific weekly or monthly support as you write.
