Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and it’s so much fun. My contributions will naturally be heavily kidlit skewed! 

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is ten books I hope Santa brings me for Christmas! I had a long book wishlist this year and I’m not sure which ones Santa (or rather my husband) chose for me but here’s what I’m crossing my fingers for:

10. The White Guy Dies First edited by Terry J Benton-Walker

I’m on a horror short story kick so I’m rounding up all the anthologies I can find! I love the sound of this YA collection by diverse voices.

9. 8 Days in the Woods: The Making of The Blair Witch Project by Matt Blazi

I’ve been a huge fan of The Blair Witch Project ever since I watched the VHS with my granny at her house and had to wake her up in the night because I was convinced there was somebody in my room. I love seeing behind the scenes on my favourite movies and learning about the filming or writing process, and there’s so much rumour about how The Blair Witch Project was made that I’d love to get the facts!

8. Inside No. 9: The Scripts

I adore Inside No. 9 and would love to sit and pore over the scripts. This boxset is signed by Reece and Steve, too, so it’s a real treasure! I definitely won’t be buying this myself because it costs a fortune 😅

7. Life’s Short, Talk Fast: 15 Writers on Why We Can’t Stop Watching Gilmore Girls by Ann Hood

I watched all of The Gilmore Girls when I was (unsuccessfully) breastfeeding and it honestly saved me. It always reminds me of my friend who passed away just before my son was born, as she used to love it and always tried to get me to watch it. I still will up at the theme song!

6. The Black Girl Survives in This One edited by Desiree S Evans and Saraciea J Fennell

Another awesome looking YA horror anthology by Black authors. So many names on here I already love so it’s bound to be brilliant!

5. The Very Merry Murder Club edited by Serena Patel and Robin Stevens

I’d been eyeing this anthology for ages but then I noticed it features a short story by Abiola Bello, an author I saw speak at YALC. I really loved listening to her but it seemed like she mostly wrote romance, which isn’t totally my bag, so when I spotted she’d contributed a mystery middle grade to this book I was all over it!

4. Starfish by Lisa Fipps

This has been on my list for aaaages. I love prose novels so I’m really excited to finally jump into this.

3. Watchmen: The Annotated Edition by Alan Moore

I’m not the biggest fan of Watchmen – I read it a few years ago and enjoyed it, but it’s not my favourite. But I adore annotated books and this is the first annotated graphic novel I’ve managed to find, so I’m keen to explore it and learn more about the comics process.

2. Room to Dream by Kelly Yang

I’m so in love with this series and can’t wait to read the third installment!

1. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum – MinaLima edition with interactive elements

I collect copies of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and I don’t have this gorgeous interactive edition yet. It was on sale at Harper Collins recently and I ummed and ahhed for too long and didn’t get it!
